MKT 445: International Marketing Strategies, Graham, spring 2024: U.K. Market

Using Passport (Euromonitor)

Passport is the main database you will use to conduct international business research.

Industry information - To find industry information in Passport, click on the Industries tab at the top of the Passport homepage. From there, select the broad industry category you're interested in (e.g. Drinks), and then narrow it down to one of the subcategories (e.g. alcoholic drinks, hot drinks, or soft drinks).

Passport will then bring back an overview on the industry you've selected as well as some of their latest industry reports. You can also use the Explore Analysis or Explore Statistics boxes to find additional information. In particular, you may want to use the Explore Analysis box to locate Country Reports for your chosen industry. This will allow you to find information specific to your industry in the United Kingdom.

Consumer information - Use the Consumers tab to navigate through the households, income and expenditure, lifestyles, and population categories. Once you've chosen your category, use the Explore Analysis box to narrow down to consumer information in the United Kingdom.

Company information - The simplest way to locate this is to type a company name in the search box (keep in mind that if you don't find any results, it could be because you are searching for a brand under a larger parent company - you may need to search using the parent company name instead). Then choose the Analysis tab on the results page to see company reports. You can narrow down to company reports in the U.K. by using the Geographies filter to the left of your search results.
