Resources for Retirees & Emeriti: Using Murphy Library

Use of the Library

All retirees are invited to use Murphy Library.

EMERITI

If you are an emeritus faculty/staff member from UWL and you live out of state, you can still access our research databases. Use the "Log into Search@UW" instructions below. If that does not work, please email Circulation Services at cirser@uwlax.edu. You will need to verify your identity with your name and the username that you tried.

Since Emeriti maintain an active relationship with the university, their library accounts are lifelong once they are set up. No expiration date and available whenever you want to use it.

To get started (if you live locally):

  1. Visit the Campus ID Office (Student Union Rm. 1131) to get your Emeritus ID card. Make sure it says "Emeritus" and shows your ID number on it. If you got your ID card before November 2018, it may not have your 9-digit ID on the front. You don't have to replace it, but it would helpful for you to write your number on the front so you have it later.
  2. Bring your Emeritus ID to the Circulation Desk in Murphy Library.
  3. Fill out an Emeritus Patron Registration form.
  4. Access Services staff will get your account set up.

Emeriti do not get active NetIDs and cannot log onto the general computers, but we do have four computers available for public use (see below).

RETIREES

If you are a retiree but not emeritus, you have most of the same privileges. Please bring your driver's license to the Circulation Desk in Murphy Library. This borrower account will allow you to check out materials from Murphy Library and use InterLibrary Loan.
