Scholarly Encyclopedias

Can be a productive starting point for exploring research topic ideas.

Relatively brief topical entries are written by recognized, credentialed experts on those topics, providing introductory backgrounds and overviews that would be difficult to find in journals.

Entries also include bibliographies, highlighting some of the most important scholarly journal articles and books available on that particular topic, as recommended by that topical expert.

Even when your objective is to work with scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles, encyclopedia entries can be of tremendous help in pointing you in a productive direction!

Examples:

  • VMAT - Volumetric-modulated arc therapy (Med Physics)
  • Cone beam ct (Med Physics)
  • Hospice care (Medicine)
  • Palliative Care (Medicine)
