EndNote Citation Tool: Murphy Library Search Box

EndNote is a citation and information management tool. Use it to organize your research, import citations, create bibliographies, and insert citations as you write.

1. When you find an item from Murphy Library's main search box that you want to add to your EndNote account, click on the thumbtack in the upper right corner. This item will then be added to your "pinned list". 

2. You can add to this list. When you are ready to export to EndNote, click on the thumbtacked list. 

3. When viewing your pinned list, select the items you want to save to your computer or click the box that lets you select them all at once. When you select items, there will appear a little “…” icon in the black bar above your records.  This menu allow you to “Export.RIS”.   Click on that and you will see a “download” button.  Choose “save as” (in Firefox) or if using Chrome, simply click on the download button. Pay attention to the name of the file and where you saved the file on your computer.

4. The item will automatically be imported directly into EndNote. You will find it in the "unfiled" group in EndNote. Clicl on this and you can change where the files are kept in your account.
