According to a story by Nate Hoffelder, people accessing/downloanding electronic books using Adobe Digital Editions (version 4) software are potentially susceptible to data breaches, which can track reader use logs. Murphy Library wanted to alert users about this as it is a privacy concern. Eric Hellman has since updated the this story with additional details (see Correcting Misinformation on the Adobe Privacy Gusher).
The first step is to search the EBSCOhost eBook Collection for books of interest.
To read the book online, simply select "PDF Full Text."
If you wish to download the book to your computer, select the Full Download link.
Some books on EBSCOhost can be downloaded immediately as PDF files without restrictions. Other titles can only be checked out for a limited time period (usually 14 days). If a title must be checked out, you will be prompted to sign in to your My EBSCOhost account. If you do not have an account, follow the instructions to create one.
Once you are signed in, you will be able to download the title as either a PDF or EPUB file. The checkout period is noted on the download screen. To view the downloaded book, you will need to have Adobe Digital Editions installed. For more information about installing this software, see the Adobe Digital Editions tab on this guide.
