How to Use Books in Your Research

In addition to research articles and other sources, books can be valuable sources of information to include in your research process. At Murphy, we have circulating books (books that you can check-out) and reference books like encyclopedias, citation style guides, and dictionaries.

On this page, you'll find information on how to find a book on the shelves, how to search for a book, and how to check a book out from Murphy.

How to Check-out a Book

To check-out a book or other material from Murphy Library, you simply need your student/faculty/staff ID card. Bring your card, along with what you would like to check out the the Library Circulation Desk and a library employee will help you with the rest. Be aware that some library materials have shorter loan periods than others, so be sure to ask when your items are due back to the library.
