Languages in the Community: Welcome

Welcome

The LibGuide "Languages in the Community" is dedicated to La Crosse (WI) community members including the university and its campus. We met with La Crosse community and university members who expressed a strong interest in our project.  They suggested a variety of topics that would be helpful to their activity and the people they serve.  The LibGuide's aim is to assist community members and visitors in the exploration of languages, countries and cultures and offer them concrete and relevant information.

We used an insect house as a metaphor to present the organization of this LibGuide.  Take a moment to look at the picture below. This structured shelter provides specific and small habitats for insects. Habitats are comparable to themes while insects are comparable to resources. As you can see habitats are designed to host insects.  Here, themes are designed to host resources.  We organized ideas within specific themes to build the main structure.

You will be able to consult resources that will be organized by theme, selected carefully and added regularly as you would be able to observe new and regular insects that keep coming to their structured house to make their own colony prosper within each habitat.

This LibGuide may assist you in a variety of projects: professional, personal, educational and others. Nevertheless if you simply wonder about specific parts of the world and languages, you may also explore particular themes that are of your interest by clicking the tab of your choice.

We wish you an enriching experience and journey, and hope you find relevant resources to your particular interest.
